I started the day at Sharon School in Harare and have much more material but this is just a first glimpse of an immaculately kept and still highly regarded primary school. The principal Kim Bezuidenhout warmly greeted me and gave me an update on the school including the fact that the old Youth Centre next door is now the Jewish Nursery School and is under Sharon School. She emphasized how important it was to them to keep the uniqueness of the school with its Jewish character.

Moderick underwent a Conservative Jewish conversion in the USA and he heads a small community of people who attended Shabbat services. They have siddurim and a Torah (see images below) and at their last service they had 40 people.

I went back to Sharon School this morning for their Shabbat service which was a unique experience by any standards. The kids are incredibly well behaved and listened intensely to the dvar torah given by Yossi Kably (former Hebrew teacher at the school). I also saw a similar Shabbat service at the next door nursery school.

Today I had several interviews with members of the Bulawayo Jewish Community and in-between, Raphael Chitrin took me from town towards his home and I captured a few scenes which I thought you would enjoy. Overall Bulawayo feels much more relaxed than Harare, less traffic, many if not most of the traffic lights actually work and the main roads are fine. Many side roads in the suburbs are in poor condition.
