Samuel Leon Sephardi Hebrew school

In May 1962 the Samuel Leon Sephardi Hebrew School was opened – next to the Sephardi Congregation Sha’are Shalom Synagogue in Salisbury (Harare).

The school was named after the father of B S Leon who was the main benefactor of the school.

The first Hebrew teachers were Rabbi Dr Papo and Rev Ichay.

In later years the school became the Jewish Nursery School.

The original 8mm film was digitized by Isaac Menashe and then edited by Dave Bloom and Isaac to show names of the people shown in the film as best as possible.
