Warren Hills Overview – updated 24th August 2025
The first Jewish grave at Warren Hills is dated 22nd Feb 1968.
A new format to search and find gravestone records has been launched in August 2025. This new format provides family members to register and add pictures and stories to create a memorial of their loved ones. In the future we hope to enable visitors to donate towards the upkeep of the cemeteries. Go to this link.
The cemetery is located on the Bulawayo Road about 12 kms out of Harare in a southerly direction. There are a number of other cemeteries of other religions and denominations directly adjacent to the Jewish cemetery. A few kilometers away is the Zimbabwe National Heroes Acre memorial where key members of the Zimbabwe leadership from both government and the pre-independence struggle are buried.
Below is some information on previous updates.
October 2013 – 28 new pictures of the cemetery were contributed by Mark Naim including several tombstones and general scenes of the cemetery. To view this separate set of pictures – ( to be added)
February 2005 – a number of additional tombstone photos have been added to this section – particularly the plaques belonging to members of the Reform community.
November 2004 – Some 590 photos of the Warren Hills cemetery have been added to the website in two formats :
The underlying pages of the cemetery via the main menu above with details of the graves are sorted alphabetically and not chronologically.
On the right a few picture of the Ohel and other angles of the cemetery.
ZJC wishes to express its sincere thanks to Benny Leon of Harare for his efforts in taking all the photos for this project.5
